The Ceramics Ireland International Festival 2012

This year we are delighted to confirm the following artists

Tip Toland – USA, Rafa Perez – Spain, Ken Eastman and Sun Kim – UK,

Alex Scott and Rory Shearer – Ireland.

The International Festival exhibition featuring the work of visiting artists opens at                  The Framewell Gallery, Thomastown, Kilkenny                                                                     on the 10th August for the Kilkenny Arts week and runs until the 2nd September.                It will then move to the festival venue at the Grennan Mill for the festival weekend

This 3 day event promises to please yet again, set in the idyllic location of Thomastown at the Grennan Mill and Pottery Skills School. The festival will feature demonstrations, slideshows, lectures, kiln firings and exhibitions.

Over the course of the 3 days each of the visiting artists will give 2 demonstrations and a slideshow. In conjunction there will be a lecture program featuring

  • Ingrid Murphy – Head of Ceramics at Cardiff School of Art and Design, with more lectures to follow!
  • Eva Vogelsang, Gabriele Gisi and Christine Aschwanden will talk about Swiss ceramics and there own work.
  • Rachel Dickson will be introduce the new Applied Arts degree program in the University of Ulster
  • Film screening of ‘Made in China’ which documents the experience of 13 Irish makers residency experience in Fuping, China as they created the Irish pavillon at the Fule International Ceramic Art Museum (FLICAM).
We have just confirmed the following additions
The screening of Anthony O’Brien’s film on the Tatiko Potters.
Jane Jermyn will also be demonstrating the Obvara firing technique.

There will be on site catering available and the festival fee includes buffet supper on Saturday night.

Festival fees: This year we are offering a 3 – payment plan you can opt to pay in three instalments with 3rd payment due August 10th
